For the Painter #60: A Reflection

Fall is in the air, which makes me happy!

Here are some photos of eco prints I recently made. Eco printing is a method of pressing leaves onto paper and boiling in natural dyes. This batch included rust water, onion skins, and oak galls. The results are different every time. I'll use the papers for collage, art journals, and cards - or I'll just look at them to remind me of fall!

"My role in society, or any artist's or poet's role, is to try and express what we all feel. Not to tell people how to feel. Not as a preacher, not as a leader, but as a reflection of us all."

-John Lennon

(John Lennon was born on this date, Oct 9 in 1940).

Continuing with the fall theme, here is a nice video demo of fall leaves in watercolor by Fabio Cembranelli.

I love watching Fabio paint because the leaves seem to emerge without effort from the watercolor paint.
